Transportation of historical archives in Paris: Transexpo Paris moves the photographic collection donated by the famous newspaper Libération to the National Archives
Transexpo is always dedicated to the preservation of heritage through its transportation and storage services for works of art. Recently, our Transexpo Paris branch undertook an exceptional mission by transporting the photographic archives generously offered by the renowned newspaper Libération to the National Archives. This two-day operation involved delicate and crucial tasks to ensure the perfect conservation of these historical assets.
Transportation of the archive collection in a climate-controlled semi-trailer
The primary task involved transporting the photographic archives from a logistics warehouse located in Essonne (91), south of Paris, to the storage facilities of the National Archives in Pierrefitte, Seine-Saint-Denis (93). Transexpo Paris took charge of this delicate mission, utilizing a climate-controlled semi-trailer to ensure optimal transport conditions for the preservation of the archives.
Upon arrival, a dedicated team from Transexpo meticulously unloaded the archive collection, making it available to a team of restorers. These professionals meticulously inspected the packaging of the archives, checking every detail to guarantee their integrity before their final storage.
Arranging archives on mobile shelving systems
Once the verification was completed, Transexpo proceeded to organize the archive boxes on the shelves of the National Archives' mobile shelving systems. This crucial step was carried out with the utmost care to allow easy access for future researchers while adhering to the strictest conservation standards.
In total, our team unloaded and organized 24 pallets, comprising 472 boxes containing 1471 archive boxes.
