Museum Cannes, French Riviera La Malmaison

A Jewel on the Croisette

Built in 1863 as an annex to the prestigious Grand Hôtel, La Malmaison is an elegant Belle Époque villa in an eclectic-baroque style. It later served as the clubhouse for the local golf club before being acquired by the City of Cannes in 1970 and transformed into a contemporary art center.

A Renaissance for Contemporary Art

After two years of extensive renovation, La Malmaison reopened on January 31, 2025 as an international hub dedicated to contemporary art. The work tripled the exhibition space — from 207 m² to 600 m² — while preserving the historic character of the building.

A Place Where Past Meets Present

Inside, modern upgrades such as climate control, state-of-the-art museum lighting, and improved accessibility blend seamlessly with original features. A refined rooftop terrace offers panoramic views over the Bay of Cannes — an exceptional backdrop to showcase the artworks.

A Premier Cultural Destination

Today, La Malmaison hosts prestigious international exhibitions, often featuring renowned artists such as Picasso, Miró, and Matisse. Its sophisticated layout and historical aura invite visitors to enjoy an immersive cultural experience in the unique setting of the Croisette.
